2011 Toyota Avalon a hit at the Chicago Auto Show
Each year the Chicago Auto Show provides a great platform for automakers to showcase their new models and concepts. This year is no different as Toyota revealed the all new boldly redesigned 2011 Avalon. The new model continues Avalon’s long tradition of sophisticated, elegant and comfortable travel.
Although to the casual observer the changes may not seem overwhelming, Chicago Camry and Avalon customers are excited about the numerous refinements to the exterior and interior of the new model. The exterior features a wider, more substantial grille and slimmer headlamps, similar in style to the ones on the Chicago Camry. The taillights have also been reshaped and feature unique LED elements, and encompass the reverse and turn signals into one sleeker package. The interior is very spacious and elegant and features “highly readable” gauges. Standard comfortable leather seating, Coordinated colors, rich wood-grain materials and premium touch points give the Avalon a very luxurious feel.
The 2011 Avalon comes available in two trim levels: base and limited. The XLS trim from the 2010 model is eliminated, which makes it a lot easier for buyers to choose what they want. The base model comes standard with many features that would be considered options on some luxury vehicles. These include leather seats, moonroof, backup camera, dual zone climate control, Bluetooth, eight way power driver seat and 17” alloy wheels. The limited model adds cooled seats, rain sensing wipers, smart key and driver seat cushion extension. The optional navigation system has been updated and features easier search and address input functionality. The base model offers a nine-speaker system while the Limited features a 12-speaker, 660-watt JBL Premium Synthesis audio system.
The 2011 Avalon is powered by 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 268 horsepower. The engine is fine tuned for improved fuel economy and lower emissions. It gets an impressive 20 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. This is a slight improvement over last year’s model.
The 2011 Avalon definitely impressed many people at the Chicago Auto Show with its elegant design and detailed craftsmanship. It will appeal to current Avalon owners as well as attract many new customers who appreciate its simple beauty. The newly redesigned 2011 Avalon is expected to arrive at your Chicago used Camry dealer sometime in April.
