Toyota won’t stop until brand’s reputation is restored

March 22, 2010 Toyota News No Comments

Before the recall, Toyota was the most trusted brand in the US auto industry, with Chicago Prius and Chicago Camry dealers being no exception, and the company is committed to doing what it can to fix their errors and earn back customer trust. Toyota and its president, Akio Toyoda, are eager to share information on recent developments, wanting to keep an open dialogue between the company and its customers. Recently, Akio and other Toyota representatives have been appearing before a number of committees to address Toyota’s issues. Toyota is determined to solve these problems and want to address anybody with questions who are legitimate observers, critics and questioners of the company and its practices. In the hearings, Mr. Toyoda is expected to acknowledge Toyota’s problems, explain why they occurred, detail the repairs the company is making and apologize. These are all things he’s been doing so far in Japan, and when he does so in the US, he will be reassuring the millions of Americans whose cars have been recalled that Toyota is working towards a safer and brighter future.

Ultimately, in the long run, Toyoda is the only person who can turn around a situation that has tarnished Toyota’s reputation for quality and put its credibility in doubt, said Jim Cain, a senior vice president for strategic communications at the Quell Group, a Detroit public relations firm.

Cain said Toyoda could bring an army of staff members with him when he testifies before Congress, including those who could answer technical questions that extend beyond his expertise. “He is able to commit the full resources of the company to explaining what went wrong and to try to make the situation right with customers. That would be a very important symbolic message for the company to send,” said Cain. And that is exactly what they plan to do.

While Toyota is doing everything they can to right their wrongs, loyal Toyota customers aren’t straying too far, and are convinced that this phase in Toyota’s history will soon pass. So in the meantime, be sure to check out your Chicago Prius and Chicago Camry dealers today for the brand car that has been the most reliable in America for decades.
